Cox Enterprises unifies on one Finance platform to eliminate silos and scale with confidence

About this video

Cox Enterprises replaced a fragmented HFM environment, where each division maintained its own instance and exchanged data through manually manipulated Excel files, with OneStream as a single, unified platform. The shift eliminated data integrity issues and gave 587 Finance users across FP&A, accounting, tax, and treasury a consistent, trusted foundation for consolidation, planning, and reporting.

With a methodical close process now fully in-system, Cox no longer waits on emailed spreadsheets to confirm accuracy. The platform continues to expand, with the recently acquired Finit allocation product already live for automotive product profitability and now being rolled out at headquarters for enterprise-wide cost transparency.

Key takeaways

  1. Multiple HFM instances created data integrity issues and excessive manual work across every division. Replacing siloed platforms with OneStream eliminated the Excel-based handoffs that slowed close and undermined confidence in the numbers.
  2. OneStream was selected because it could unify consolidation, planning, and reporting on one scalable platform. Cox needed a solution that could grow with the organization, not just solve today's problems across its cable, automotive, and other business divisions.
  3. Month-end close is now methodical, seamless, and fully in-system with no emailed filesrequired. Finance teams know exactly when data is ready andaccurate without the uncertainty that came with manually assembled consolidated financials.
  4. 587 Finance users across FP&A, accounting, tax, and treasury now work from onesingle source of truth. That unified foundation is what made AI adoption realistic and responsible when Cox began itsSensibleAI agent journey.
  5. OneStream's acquisition ofFinit's allocation product extends Cox's platform investment into cost transparency. Already live for automotive product profitability, it is now being rolled out at headquarters to give visibility into cost allocations from enterprise level down to each division.

I'm Allison Adrienne. I'm the Associate Vice President for Finance Solutions Delivery with Cox Interprises. Cox Interprises is a conglomerate made up of cable division, automotive division, automotive and a few smaller.

Prior to OneStream, we were an HFM shop and we had many different silos and each division had their own instance. By having multiple instances of HFM, it was a lot of manual passing of information, Excel spreadsheets that were being manipulated and emailed from the divisions because we weren't on one single platform.

And so there was quite a bit of data integrity issues and then just manual processes. OneStream was selected for Cox because we really felt that it was the unified platform we were looking for and we felt like it was really able to grow and scale with what we were going to need for Cox. And so we were excited about not only the consolidation and kind of becoming our single source of truth, but also the planning and the reporting sides as well.

Month in close is very straightforward and seamless and having the consolidated financials without waiting on Excel files to be emailed and uploaded. It's all in the system and we have a very methodical close process.

So then we know when things are ready and accurate and you don't have to worry. For finance, we have 587 users today across our FP&A accounting, tax and treasury teams. We're excited to learn that OneStream just acquired Finit's allocated product.

We actually went live with it last year for our automotive division where we're doing product profitability. Now we're getting ready to use it at headquarters for cost transparency to enable visibility into our cost allocations from enterprise down to the division.

OneStream's done a great job of getting people insights so they can take action versus trying to figure out what the insights are.
